Percutaneous Circulatory Support
Complications from angioplasty can occur in some patients, but major complications are unusual. A very small percentage of patients need emergency coronary bypass surgery when the procedure fails to open the artery. This is less common with the use of Percutaneous Circulatory Support For High Risk Angioplasty Procedures. PPAI Medical™ provides this service for free standing and hospital based Catheterization Laboratories.

ECMO
The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to treat severe respiratory failure in the full-term infant with persistent pulmonary hypertension of the neonate (PPHN) has grown dramatically in recent years.
The ECMO Registry recently documented that 1,006 cases had been treated in 1989 for a total of 3,597 in the last 10 years.

Blood Conservation
PPAI Medical™ work diligently to improve safety of the blood supply. Blood collected today is 100% tested, and donors are carefully screened. This has dramatically reduced but not eliminated the risk of transmission of disease through blood transfusion. There are other risks associated with blood transfusions to include immunological reaction to the donor blood, and transfusion errors. Although the risks of blood transfusion are small, many patients prefer to be transfused with their own blood.
